Look, It's Flying!
Municipal Cultural Centre, Kyjov

I first hopped on the wagon of the children's traveling theatre from Kyjov in 2019. And to this day, I remain in awe of their artistry, the joy they spread across the region each summer, and the friendship that unites this group. What a joy it is for me to create illustrations for their posters! In connection with that, I present the exhibition "Look, It's Flying!"—primarily showcasing my illustrative work. Stories that seem ordinary… and perhaps magical, too. When you look again through the eyes of a child, creatures in abandoned gardens come to life, paper kites fly off to the Land of Nowhere, stars in the sky shine just for you, and
the small pond behind the house feels vaster than the Pacific Ocean. If you’d like, come there with me for
a little while.

Exhibitions 2024

The Path Home
Municipal Library, Náchod

With The Path Home exhibition, I present mainly plein-air paintings—created outdoors in the foothills
of the Orlické Mountains, a region I love and call home. My painting refuges are scattered around my hometown of Dobruška and various locations in the mountains (Nový Hrádek, Orlické Záhoří, Kačerov, etc.). I paint in the scorching summer and also in freezing snow. Each season has its own magic-airy perspectives of summer horizons and the thousands of colors in sparkling snow, of which only one is white. Everything presents a beautiful challenge for painterly adventure.

So why not come dressed like I do when I go plein air painting? It makes sense—it’s a plein-air exhibition. And why not share a few funny stories about the crazy mishaps that can surprise you out there? At first,
I was nervous that no one laughed at my story about almost drowning in a swamp. But then I got even more unsure when one visitor burst into uncontrollable laughter over it. In any case, the opening went really well—everything was eaten and drunk, and we had a lovely time together.

Jiné Kafe Café
Dobruška

The series "What If They Were Still Here" was featured in the international exhibition in Tartu,
Estonia-European Capital of Culture 2024. The theme is a boy walking through the streets of Prague, encountering reminders of famous literary stories:

  • Franz Kafka – The Metamorphosis
What if Gregor Samsa hadn’t died and still hid in his insect form in some forgotten garden?
  • Jaroslav Foglar – The Shadow Districts Revolt
What if Široko were still racing across the rooftops of the Shadow District with the Hedgehog
    in a Cage?
  • Karel Čapek – War with the Newts
What if the newts still lived in the Vltava River, watched by Mr. Povondra from his fishing boat?

Semper Magica
Vypečená matka Café, Prague

Always magical. Two words you can use as a spell anytime to turn an ordinary moment into something miraculous. I still remember how easy it was to do that when I was a little girl. It came naturally. Now
I return to that view of the world through my art. I feel my perception shifting. All it takes is to look again through the eyes of a child—without prejudice or expectation… only with wonder. As if I’m experiencing
it for the first time. Flying a kite, picking an apple, watching a snowflake fall-it’s up to me whether I find these things boring, dismiss them with a shrug, or marvel at them. The longer I paint, the more I’m drawn to the theme of a wandering mind coming to stillness in quiet awe. Semper magica.

Tartu University Art Museum
Estonia

I responded to that open call at five minutes to midnight—well, actually 11 p.m., because Estonia is an hour ahead. I learned about the call for the Transforming Literary Places exhibition in Tartu just two days before the application deadline. I hesitated for a day and a half—should I even try? What were my chances, with artists from around the world applying?! On the last day, at 7 p.m., I said YES. I was in Prague, so I slipped into my favorite café and started drafting my application and a sketch of a potential piece—right on my phone. It took me three hours, and I ended up finishing it in a nearby student club, sending it off five minutes before the deadline. I didn’t give myself much of a chance…
But look-sometimes it pays to give yourself some chance. From many submissions, 30 works from 18 countries were selected. Among them-three of mine. A huge thank-you to curators Francesca Arnavas and Mattia Bellini.

Essentia exhibition with Ivana Záleská. The tearoom Na Kopečku is a magical place, and the people of Rumburk welcomed me with incredible warmth.

A lovely evening in Rumburk—the organ played, the paintings were there, the treats were delicious, and the bubbles were flowing!
